Being an adult means having to learn every detail of life. A class in high school called adult roles teaches you how to be an adult. It tells you all of the responsibility you will have when on your own and can be quite a shock to some carefree teenagers. This week we learnt how to purchase and have Insurance Policy information on all that you have to have one on. I never realized how many things that my parents were responsible for. The first day we learned about making sure that no matter what kind of insurance that we were purchasing we had to make sure that it was full coverage. Anything less and you could be looking at paying for your own costly repairs. Never just go out and buy a policy. She told us to make sure that we shop around for the best price. You can go for the company with the lowest prices, but just make sure that it is good coverage. You have to get insurance on your car if you intend to drive it anywhere. Get caught without insurance while you were driving and you can be fined, jailed, or even have your licence permanently suspended. You never want to risk it. Plus you do not want to have to pay out of pocket for damages sustained during an accident. If and when you buy a home you will have to have a policy for homeowners insurance. You can not get a loan for a house without proper insurance on the home. You may also want to consider getting mortgage insurance on the person who pays the mortgage. If something happens to them in life you want to make sure that you do not have to leave your home. If you do any home repairs or add anything new to your home make sure that you report it, because if you don't and it becomes damaged or it damages something you will be responsible to pay for it yourself. Make sure that you read all of the fine print in your policy as well. You do not want something to happen and then find out that you are not covered. In California you can find that people get insurance on some strange things. Like movie starts get insurance on parts of their body that were the reason that they became famous. Seems shallow. Anyway this week in class we learned about all of the things that you need to know about insurance. |
